The U.S. Embassy in Nairobi is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Administrative Receptionist to work in the Medical Unit. The incumbent will provide general office support and clerical activities under the direct supervision of the RMO/MP. Responsibilities include answering calls, mail distribution, correspondence flow, and other clerical duties while maintaining patient confidentiality.


Key Responsibilities:

  1. Provide general office support and clerical activities for the Mission medical unit.
  2. Answer incoming calls and direct them to appropriate associates.
  3. Manage mail distribution and flow of correspondence.
  4. Requisition supplies and perform additional clerical duties as required.
  5. Serve as the first point of contact, both by phone and in person, for patients and visitors to the medical unit.
  6. Maintain absolute patient confidentiality at all times.


  • Completion of High school is required.

Language Proficiency:

  • Level III proficiency in English (Good working knowledge, reading/speaking/writing) is required.


  • Three years of clerical/administrative experience in a busy office is required.


Job Knowledge:

  • Proficiency in computers and relevant software applications (MS Word, Outlook, Excel, Internet/Intranet).
  • Ability to type at least 45 wpm.
