We focus on conducting policy-relevant research on population, health, education, urbanization, and related development issues in sub-Saharan Africa.

Role Overview:

We are seeking an Advocacy Officer to join the Strengthening Policy and Mainstreaming Gender in Sanitation Project within the Policy Engagement and Communications (PEC) Program. This position is pivotal in coordinating advocacy and partner-related initiatives, ensuring effective engagement with diverse stakeholders to advance policy goals.


  • Coordinate sector-wide advocacy efforts.
  • Develop and execute an advocacy strategy for the project.
  • Manage social media platforms and communication tools.
  • Coordinate advocacy and communication activities with partners.
  • Produce advocacy and communication materials.
  • Maintain a calendar of key events and coordinate participation.
  • Provide capacity-building sessions for stakeholders.
  • Contribute to policy briefs and other policy outputs.
  • Lead documentation production for public engagement and advocacy.
  • Conduct monitoring and impact evaluation of advocacy activities.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Environmental Science, or related fields.
  • Master’s degree in related disciplines preferred.
  • 3-5 years of post-qualification experience in advocacy and policy work in the WASH sector.
  • Strong networking, interpersonal, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Resourcefulness, initiative, and mature judgment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Creative thinking abilities.
