Introduction

The Refugee Consortium of Kenya (RCK) is seeking qualified candidates for two consultancy positions to provide psychosocial services to refugees and host communities in Nairobi and Garissa. The consultancy will last for 6 months, with the possibility of renewal, and aims to support RCK’s mission of protecting and promoting the well-being, voice, and dignity of displaced populations and host communities.

Scope of the Consultancy

The consultants will be responsible for:

  • Identifying and maintaining referral pathways for mental health and psychosocial services.
  • Providing psychosocial counseling to individuals, groups, families, and couples.
  • Supporting multi-sectoral interventions and contributing to project capitalization.
  • Capacity building for stakeholders on counseling.
  • And more as detailed in the Terms of Reference.

Description of Tasks

Tasks include providing counseling, conducting psychoeducation forums, training community-based counselors, sensitizing communities on trauma, supporting program monitoring, facilitating community dialogue forums, coordinating debriefing sessions for staff, and preparing reports.

Expected Deliverables

The consultant will provide monthly work plans, quarterly and bi-annual consultancy reports, an end-of-consultancy report, training reports, attendance lists, project reports, updates of meetings and events attended.

Consultancy Time Frame

The consultancy will cover a period of 6 months starting from April 1, 2024, with the possibility of renewal subject to performance and availability of funds.

Requirements of the Consultant

  • Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Counseling Psychology or a Higher Diploma in Counseling, strong analytical and report writing skills, proficiency in English and Kiswahili, and technology awareness.
  • Experience: Two years’ experience in an NGO or related environment, experience in prevention and awareness of GBV programs, project management skills, and working experience in refugee protection and management.
  • Language: Proficiency in English and Kiswahili.
  • Behavioral Competencies: Professionalism, communication, teamwork, and managing performance.

Reporting Line

The consultant will report directly to the Director of Programs and work closely with Pillar Programme Managers and Project Officers based in various locations.
