Refugee Consortium of Kenya (RCK): Established in 1998, RCK is an NGO dedicated to protecting and promoting the well-being, voice, and dignity of displaced and host populations in Kenya. RCK operates through various strategic pillars and delivery pathways to achieve its organizational goals.


RCK has secured funding to support its 2023-2027 Strategic Plan and seeks to expand its interventions on women and girls’ empowerment, particularly in entrepreneurship. The organization aims to enhance entrepreneurship skills among targeted refugee and host community women and provide support for sustainable economic participation.

Objectives of the Consultancy

The consultant will focus on business mapping, curriculum development, training, business plan development, grants disbursement, and mentorship/coaching oversight for refugee and host community women.

Expected Deliverables and Outputs

The consultant is expected to provide a work plan, conduct market analysis, develop a training curriculum, pilot test the curriculum, conduct training sessions, develop business plans, facilitate grants disbursement, monitor and mentor enterprises, and document project outcomes.

Consultancy Time Frame

The consultancy covers 43 days spread over 12 months and is renewable subject to performance and funding availability.



  • Bachelor’s Degree in Economics/Business Administration, Gender Studies, Development Studies, or Law.


  • At least 3 years’ experience in economic empowerment of women, preferably in addressing GBV situations.
  • Experience working with NGOs or in the humanitarian field is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of RCK’s working environment and refugee protection needs.
  • Experience providing business training to community groups.

Functional Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of Economic Empowerment of women and GBV.
  • Capacity in working with community groups and capacity development.

Core Competencies

  • Professionalism, communication, technology awareness, teamwork, managing performance, and self-management/emotional intelligence.

Reporting Line

The consultant will report directly to the Director of Programmes with guidance from the Executive Director. They will work closely with Programme Managers and Project Officers.
