Kenya Medical Supplies Authority (KEMSA) is in the process of implementing a new (Enterprise Resource Planning) ERP to improve its supply chain.

The ERP system is expected to greatly improve the way the organization conducts its business and improve the visibility of its supply chain. KEMSA has identified and agreed on the SAP ERP system through a G2G arrangement with the University of Nairobi for which the procurement process and contract has been finalized.

KEMSA intends to have the core modules of procurement, warehouse, distribution, finance, and HR up and running within 3 months of the implementation. In-line with the on-going USAID support to the reforms framework,

KEMSA has requested USAID to provide technical assistance to support implementation of the new ERP.

The ERP implementation management consultant will ensure the successful adoption of the ERP system across the organization, facilitating buy-in, and ensure a smooth transition to the new ERP environment.

The consultant will collaborate closely with the KEMSA-appointed change management lead to ensure effective engagement in KEMSA processes and successful ERP adoption.

To achieve a sustained and optimized utilization of the ERP, the consultant will develop and implement a tailored change management strategy for the ERP implementation.

SoCha is seeking an ERP Change Management Expert to support USAID/KEA’s Health Population and Nutrition Office to provide the technical support required by KEMSA.

Scope of Work

The ERP Change Management Expert responsibilities will include:

  • Conduct a comprehensive analysis of the organization’s current state, including culture, processes, and readiness for the ERP implementation.
  • Develop a detailed change management strategy specifically tailored for the new ERP project, incorporating communication plans, training programs, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Collaborate with the implementation team to ensure alignment between technical aspects of ERP deployment and change management efforts.
  • Provide ongoing support during ERP implementation, addressing resistance, facilitating training, and communicating updates.
  • Evaluate and recommend strategies for sustaining and optimizing ERP system usage post-implementation.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience

  • A bachelor’s degree in ICT, project management or related field.
  • A minimum of fifteen (15) years working within the IT industry, ten (10) of which are in enterprise solutions architecture consulting with specialization in warehousing and distribution solutions.
  • Local and global ERP implementation consulting experience for large distribution, warehousing, and supply chain organizations preferably within the pharmaceutical or medical industries.
  • Experience in designing standards and policies for ERP implementation.
  • Experience working with USAID projects.
  • Change management expertise in the implementation of large ERP projects.
  • A strong understanding of the operations of health supply chains in Africa.
  • Knowledge of health systems and policy issues.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills.

Period of Performance:

4 months (February 2024 – May 2025)
