The General Manager, Credit Risk Underwriting at Equity Group Holdings (EGH), acts as a liaison between EGH Subsidiaries’ Business Origination and Group Credit Risk Underwriting Units. The role focuses on improving the quality of the loan portfolio across all lending units, supporting internal and external syndications, and facilitating complex and specialized lending across the Group.


Credit Risk Underwriting
  • Review and present complex credit proposals to Group Office Credit Advisory Committee (GOCAC) for subsidiary board approvals.
  • Ensure compliance with the Group’s lending framework and identify/mitigate policy breaches.
  • Structure non-funded facilities in coordination with the Trade Finance Department.
  • Support the Group’s Debt Recovery Unit to process requests related to delinquent facilities.
  • Monitor economic, political, and regulatory developments impacting lending decisions.
  • Maintain financial information on loan accounts and ensure compliance with policies.
Compliance and Risk Management
  • Implement effective controls over the credit process to ensure a robust control environment.
  • Review credit facilities and advise Group Head Credit Risk Underwriting on findings.
  • Continuously improve the Group’s credit portfolio.

Customer Service
  • Ensure good customer service while maintaining appropriate risk management culture.
  • Provide Credit Risk technical advice or assistance to stakeholders as needed.

Skills Required

  • Credit management and monitoring skills.
  • Negotiation skills to deal with various stakeholders.
  • Financial analysis skills and understanding of credit policies.
  • Presentation and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to handle pressure, manage conflicting priorities, and adapt to constant changes.


  • Master’s degree and bachelor’s degree, preferably in STEM, business, finance, or accounting.
  • Professional Banking or Accountancy certification (e.g., AKIB/ACIB, CPA, ACCA, or CFA) will be an added advantage.
  • At least 15 years of credit experience, with 5 years in credit risk analysis.
  • Strong data rationality, detail consciousness, and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency in interpreting financial and legal documents.
  • Good computer skills.
