Open Positions
1. National Soil Laboratories Specialist
Type: Full-Time
Experience: Minimum 8 years
Qualification: Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Agricultural Science, Soil Science, Crop Science, Agricultural Economics, or a related field
Location: Nairobi, Kenya
Languages: Proficient in English and Kiswahili (Level C)
Eligibility: Kenyan nationals only
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee processing of soil samples for wet and dry chemistry analysis.
- Collaborate with laboratories and partners to ensure accurate and timely results.
- Support quality assurance and develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Organize capacity-building workshops and training sessions.
- Assist in procurement and implementation of laboratory equipment.
- Monitor progress and assess quality of laboratory harmonization activities.
- Facilitate the development of a national soil laboratory network.
- Contribute to project monitoring and reporting.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the FAO Representative (FAOR).
2. National Soil Information and Data Specialist
Type: Full-Time
Experience: Minimum 3 years
Qualification: Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Science, Soil Science, GIS, Computer Science, or a related field
Location: Nairobi, Kenya
Languages: Proficient in English and Kiswahili (Level C)
Eligibility: Kenyan nationals only
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise collection, harmonization, and systematization of soil data and legacy maps.
- Design and oversee national soil surveys using advanced methodologies.
- Develop digital soil maps and integrate data into decision support tools.
- Design and support implementation of a soil monitoring system, including a soil spectral library.
- Build capacity in digital soil mapping and modeling.
- Coordinate stakeholder workshops and ensure timely delivery of project outputs.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by FAOR.
