Medical Officer – 10 Positions

Requirements and competencies for appointment: –
- Holder of Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) or Equivalent from an institution recognized in Kenya;
- Must have successfully completed one-year internship;
- Registered and with current practice licenses as issued by the Medical Practitioners’ and Dentists Board(KMP&DB);
- Experienced in basic surgical procedures;
- In depth understanding of management of common medical conditions;
- Must have good interpersonal and Communication skills.
Duties and Responsibilities: –
- Management of patients in the outpatient, accident and emergency department and in patient wards using current guidelines and protocols;
- Responsible for daily clinical assessments and prescriptions of treatment to all patients attending the hospital;
- With support from the relevant Specialist, ensures running of scheduled Medical, Obstetrical& Gynaecologic, Paediatric and Surgical clinics in the hospital;
- Giving relevant Health education information including explanation of tests and management options and procedures to patients;
- Carry out lifesaving emergency and elective surgical procedures in the hospital;
- Identification, co-ordination of referral of medical and surgical patients for further management and related support;
- Support in the preparedness and response to Surgical and medical emergencies, including support to outbreak emergency response in the county as may be necessary.
- Co-coordinating and ensuring medical teams in the department posted to; receive regular updated and timely continuous medical updates;
- Undertake medical examinations to certify physical fitness of clients
Medical Specialist II (Paediatric)

Requirements and competencies for appointment: –
- Holder of Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (M.B.Ch.B) degree or Equivalent degree from an institution recognized by Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board of Kenya;
- Master’s degree in Paediatric and child health from an institution recognized by Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board of Kenya;
- Certificate of Registration as medical practitioner by the Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board of Kenya(KMPDB);
- Specialist recognition certificate from KMP&DB;
- Valid practicing license from Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board of Kenya.
Duties and Responsibilities: –
- Attend to and provide medical management services for acute Paediatric cases and emergencies, chronic Paediatric cases, referrals in the inpatient and outpatient centers
- Provide health care related to relevant medical Specialty to patients including; prevention, diagnosis treatment and rehabilitation;
- Ensure implementation of validated clinical policies, tools, guidelines and protocols related to area of specialty in order to minimize clinical risks and extend best clinical practices;
- In collaboration with other medical colleagues, carry out research and ensure exhaustive use of management tools in order to improve results and to always share knowledge among medical staff;
- Ensure all clients related documentary during provision of services is updated in a timely manner as per the hospital policies.
- Coaching, mentorship, teaching and supervision of Medical Doctors and other health workers in your area of work and on relevant required expertise;

Medical Specialist (Intensive Care)

Requirements and competencies for appointment: –
- Holder of Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (M.B.Ch.B) degree or Equivalent degree from an institution recognized by Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board of Kenya;
- Master’s degree in intensive care and emergency from an institution recognized by Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board of Kenya;
- Certificate of Registration as medical practitioner by the Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board of Kenya;
- Specialist recognition certificate from KMP&DB;
- Valid practicing license from Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board of Kenya (KMPDB).
- Must have at least one year of working experience in intensive care unit.
- Must have good interpersonal and communication skills
Duties and Responsibilities: –
- Provide care to critically ill patients in the intensive care units as well as supervise critical care staff.
- Evaluate patients who may require critical care from the Emergency department or other inpatient units including consultancy for emergencies in other critical care units;
- Team leader in the Emergency responses team and supervises medical house staff in medical codes and rapid response teams;
- Ensure continuous medical cover for all patients admitted to the Intensive Care Unit and liaising with other medical specialist as required;
- Ensuring plans are acted upon and specific diagnostic tests carried out diligently;
- Train all staff in ICU management, maintain infection control practices and airway management;
- Coordinate communication with patient’s relatives and referring hospitals;
- Respectfully collaborate with a diverse set of team members.
Medical Specialist (General Surgeon)

Requirements and competencies for appointment: –
- Holder of Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (M.B.Ch.B) degree or Equivalent degree from an institution recognized by Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board of Kenya;
- Master’s degree in General Surgery from an institution recognized by Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board of Kenya;
- Certificate of Registration as medical practitioner by the Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board of Kenya;
- Specialist recognition certificate from KMP&DB;
- Valid practicing license from Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board of Kenya (KMPDB).
Duties and Responsibilities: –
- Examine patients and making diagnoses to determine the need for surgery;
- Reviewing patients medical history and planning the best procedure for treatment;
- Evaluating and advising patient on the risk involved with having surgery;
- Performing surgical procedures to prevent or correct injuries, diseases, deformities and patients functions while adhering to regulatory and ethical protocols;
- Following established surgical technics during surgery;
- Prescribing preoperative and postoperative treatments and procedures;
- Ensuring sterility in the operating room and all equipment and instruments;
Medical Specialist (Internal Medicine)

Requirements and competencies for appointment: –
- Holder of Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (M.B.Ch.B) degree or Equivalent degree from an institution recognized by Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board of Kenya;
- Master’s degree in Medicine /Internal Medicine from an institution recognized by Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board of Kenya;
- Certificate of Registration as medical practitioner by the Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board of Kenya;
- Specialist recognition certificate from KMP&DB;

Duties and Responsibilities: –
- Reviewing patients medical history and planning the best procedure for treatment;
- Undertaking “First-on-call duties including clerking investigation and managing patients

- Managing health facilities at various tiers in communities.
- Responding to intern call, trainings, supervising and mentoring medical officers(intern) and other students
- Performing emergency surgeries, undertaking medical examinations and preparing medical Board proceedings

Kenya Registered Community Health Nurse – 4 Positions

Requirements and competencies for appointment: –
- Diploma in any of the following disciplines: Kenya Registered Community Health Nursing, Kenya Registered Nursing, Kenya Registered Midwifery, Kenya Registered Nursing/Midwifery or Kenya Registered Nursing/Mental Health and Psychiatry from recognized institution;
- Registered Certificate issued by the Nursing Council of Kenya;
- Valid practicing license from Nursing Council of Kenya; and
- Certificate in computer application skills from recognized institution.
Duties and Responsibilities: –
- Assessing, planning, implementing nursing interventions and evaluating patients outcome;
- Providing appropriate healthcare services including integrated Management of Childhood Illness (IMCI), immunization, PMTCT, ante-natal care and delivery, providing health education and counselling to patients/clients and community on identified health needs;
- Referring patients and clients appropriately;
- Facilitating patients admission and initiating discharging plans;
- Maintaining records on patients/clients health conditions and care;
- Ensuring a tidy and safe clinical environment; and
- Collecting and compiling data
