Security Officer Cargo

Brief Description        

  • Responsible for planning, directing and controlling every day implementation of security measures at cargo operations and driving the required compliance levels.

Detailed Description        

  • Implement measures to reduce security incidents at cargo terminals.
  • Proactively manage and control security operations at cargo terminals to ensure security of arrival, handling and departure of KQ and customer cargo flights.
  • Implement security deployment plan, processes and procedures at cargo terminal to ensure secure coverage of all critical areas based on the emerging trends.
  • Provide necessary tools and create conducive environment to ensure safe and secure
  • handling and transportation/ carriage of security items on KQ and customer cargo flights.
  • Analyze cargo incident trends and develop security countermeasures to ensure security of company, customer and staff property.
  • Coordinate with contracted security service providers and Regulated Agents at the airports to ensure cargo database is current and for effective coverage to ensure protection of property.
  • Review and operate an efficient shift system with adequate staff rest to ensure a motivated and alert team.
  • Consistently discuss with security operational staff, review their performance to create conducive working environment.
  • Provide on job training to KQ security staff and contracted security service providers, guiding, advising and directing them to ensure that they meet KQ standards and comply with regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure all staff attend mandatory training when due as per the security training matrix.
  • Liaise with other security agencies at the airport to ensure quick resolutions to any cargo issues affecting KQ operations.
  • Proactively conduct self-tests, inspections and tests to ensure world-class operation in Security.
  • In consultation with Security Manager Cargo, recommend to the Head of Corporate Security, the Cargo terminal budgetary requirements.
  • In consultation with Security Manager Cargo, develop standard operating procedures for security staff at cargo terminal and ensure its full implementation.
  • Monitor and ensure staff perform their tasks as per company standards and regulatory requirement.
  • Conduct quality control checks and record any gaps

Job Requirements        

  • University degree or relevant professional qualification
  • At least five years of relevant experience, 3 of which must be as a Security Team Leader
  • Diploma/Certificate in a relevant discipline will be an added advantage. Additional certification on ware housing operations will be an added advantage

Brief Description        

  • The Content Manager is responsible for providing creative input by developing and managing (mainly) audiovisual content for placement on digital platforms and related communication channels to enhance timely customer engagement. The role shapes the audiovisual aspects of engagement across all media, including digital media (focus), traditional media, press, and more.   • Provide art direction and creative direction on content produced.
  • Develop, launch and manage new campaigns that promote our organisation and brand form key relationships with content partners across social media platforms

Security Team Leader Cargo

Brief Description        

  • Responsible for ensuring day to day running of security shifts at Cargo to drive cargo security operations in order to ensure KQ freighters, customer aircraft, cargo, courier and mail and other KQ assets are protected against acts of unlawful interference.

Detailed Description        

  • Gather and disseminate intelligence on all acts of unlawful interference and crimes, in order to prevent, detect and apprehend the perpetrators.
  • Briefing, supervision for allocation of tasks and responsibilities for cargo operational Performance.
  • Oversee and supervise third party security services for overall safety and security of staff, customer and equipment at cargo terminal.
  • In liaison with Terminal Duty Controllers to ensure cargo, courier and mail reconciliation processes are consistently done for optimal flight safety and security.
  • Ensure efficient handling of lost and found items of customers /clients and tenants.
  • Oversee processes and procedures for transfer, cargo, mail and courier to eliminate losses.
  • Protect company revenue through but not limited to collection of unpaid cargo excess weight, strong room charges.
  • Accurately compile and update data on all crimes committed on cargo, courier and mails.
  • Ensure staff attendance to all staff trainings and meetings in advancement of security agenda.
  • Consistently implement anti-pilferage measures on cargo, courier and mail in response to any emerging trend.
  • In liaison with related process owners ensure nil cargo aircrafts security violation at all times, proper handling of found cargo, Violated cargo.

  • Conduct preliminary investigations on cargo, courier and mail incidents and submit to the investigation office within the stipulated period.

  • Ensure proper handling/security of VUN/VAL cargo
  • Conduct initial/recurrent threat and risk assessment for VAL handling

Job Requirements

Head of Engineering Services

Brief Description        

  • The candidate will be responsible for the core activity of the Engineering Services organisation, ensuring strategic development and management of fleet safety, operational reliability, technical standards, compliance with regulatory requirements, and a cost-effective operation and maintenance of the fleet through provision of technical and commercial management. He/she will develop long term direction and scope of the organisation to ensure profitability and growth, driving organizational and operational efficiency value at optimum cost. He/She will also be responsible in managing key business relationships with major OEM and MRO providers, and Engine Leasing companies, and providing strong leadership in the identification, evaluation, and pursuit of new supplier support opportunities for the business.

Detailed Description        

Principal Accountabilities (Responsibility)

  • Develop internal procedures and policies to bring about a continuous improvement in working practices and key performance criteria in line with industry best practice and KQ brand and people management principles.
  • Define and implement a full range of business process and systems support tools that will ensure an effective maintenance plan can be followed.
  • Ensure all business processes and procedures are detailed in the Department Procedures or Local Instructions as appropriate.
  • Develop the long-term direction of the organization and to ensure profitability and growth, driving productivity and efficiency and ensure that staff numbers and supplier support plans are optimized to reflect fleet size and volume.
  • Contribute to the development of annual business plans that increase profitability and shareholder value and be fully responsible for the development and execution of the Engineering Services plan.
  • To define and manage overall departmental budget.
  • Plan and organize medium (3 to 5 years) and long term (5 to 10 years) maintenance strategies for the aircraft fleets with a firm focus on life cycle cost management.
  • To develop manpower and capital budgets in line with the needs of the business.

  • Lead and direct the management team providing a multi-disciplinary team to support the operational and engineering departments across the division Lead, direct, motivate and develop the Engineering Services team to ensure that the agreed standards of performance and contribution are successfully achieved, whilst ensuring all staff receive performance assessments and clear objectives set.
  • Set departmental engagement in line with KQ and the Engineering & Maintenance division’s objectives.
  • Conduct regular one-to-one and team meetings with all direct reports. Regularly communicate corporate and Engineering & Maintenance strategy and performance to staff in line with a departmental communication plan.
  • Take personal responsibility for issues of poor performance, disciplinary and staff conduct. Ensure that decisions are in line with company HR policy and take account of all possible outcomes associated with decision making.
  • Develop communication strategies while managing relationships with all Airline departments and outside companies, holding key relationships at a Senior Level with Aircraft/Engine manufacturers, MRO Service Providers and Engine Leasing Companies.
  • Ensure assessment of supplier’s assets and capabilities with respect to overall business strategy, determination of what activities to engage in with different suppliers, and planning and execution of all interactions with suppliers, in a coordinated fashion across the relationship lifecycle to maximize the value realized through those interactions.
  • Ensure Supplier management plans to deliver value created by contracting is realized (and get a bit more), and benefits include increased visibility into our supply base (reducing risk), increased quality in products and service provided and alignment of our suppliers with KQ processes and corporate goals.
  • Setting fleet management strategy for asset modifications, integrated maintenance programmes and reliability, and maintenance / work scoping policies to ensure high quality and fully optimized life cycle cost management that matches the fleet operating plans.
  • Support the development of a cost effective and integrated maintenance planning strategy aligned to KQ asset growth that will exploit maintenance planning opportunities worldwide and with all external providers, whilst achieving full regulatory and compliance standards.
  • Ensure that the MIS functionality is used to full effect at all times to carry out the functions of the department and that the system is fully integrated into the department business processes.
  • Ensure the aircraft cabin and external appearance meets world class standards.
  • Ensure processes are in place to continuously minimize aircraft maintenance ground times.
  • Develop systems and processes to improve check preparation and control, and optimum productivity.
  • Ensure quality of maintenance performed for third party customers guarantees no warranty claims from Kenya Airways.
  • Ensure that all regulatory and legal requirements, statutory responsibilities, and directives pertaining to the department activities are in compliance and that the highest levels of technical standards, safety and reliability are maintained.
  • Ensure the provision of an efficient and effective Information Service and Airworthiness Records Management function to ensure compliance with the requirements of the KCAA and other regulatory authorities and lease condition compliance.

Job Requirements        

Qualification (Minimum)  

  • University Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Aeronautical, Electrical/Electronics, Mechatronics or equivalent) with first class honors or an upper second-class honor.
  • Over Ten (10) years’ progressive experience, coupled with four years of active aircraft maintenance experience and a minimum 4 years’ experience in aircraft maintenance whilst holding a management position(s).
  • A master’s degree in engineering is an added advantage. · Understanding of Project Management methodology.
  • Understanding of basic legal precepts.
  • Working knowledge of current airworthiness regulations.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in managing complex maintenance operations.
  • Knowledge of KCAA/EASA/FAA requirements and Kenya Airways procedures.
  • Possess training credentials on various discipline related aircraft standards, regulations, policies and procedures.
