The Kenya Prisons Service (K.P.S) is a state department in the Ministry of Interior and National Administration. The service operates under the legal framework provided under the Prisons Act (Cap 90) and the Borstal Act (Cap 92) and is headed by the Commissioner General of Prisons (CGP).

QUALIFICATIONS (CONSTABLES]
Prospective candidates wishing to join the Kenya Prisons Service MUST meet the following conditions and possess academic qualifications as indicated.
- Be a Kenyan Citizen
- Have a valid National Identity card
- Have no criminal record
- Have a Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) minimum grade of D+ and above
- Be between the ages of 18 and 28 years
- Be at least 5 feet 4 inches tall for men and 5 feet and 2 inches tall for women Be physically and mentally fit
- Must have good hearing and clear vision
- Female candidates MUST NOT be pregnant at the time of recruitment or during the initial training period.
- On recruitment, candidates will undergo a para-military initial training lasting not less than nine (9) months.
- The recruitment exercise will be absolutely FREE. Bribery and other acts of corruption. are unlawful. Any person presenting themselves for recruitment with falsified or fake academic/professional certificates, identity cards, or engaging in any acts that amount to corruption SHALL be disqualified, and prosecuted.
- Members of the public are warned that recruitment will only be conducted at the listed recruitment centers and on the day as indicated.
- Prospective candidates MUST carry their original National Identification card, birth certificate, KRA PIN certificate, academic certificates and other testimonials on the day of recruitment.
- Interested candidates are therefore, invited to attend the recruitment exercise at the centers indicated.

All prospective candidates for the advertised posts should apply and fill the PSC.2 form (REVISED 2007) which can be downloaded from www. publicservice.go.ke and attach clear photocopies of relevant academic/ professional certificates and their National identification Cards (ID).
