Overview:

Embassy Nairobi is seeking a Maintenance Inspector to join the Facility Management Section. This role involves inspecting residential housing units and U.S. Government-owned properties, assessing maintenance and repair needs, and overseeing projects in compliance with regulations and safety standards.

Duties:

  • Inspect approximately 350 residential housing units and government properties.
  • Determine maintenance and repair requirements.
  • Create statements of work, concept drawings, cost estimates, and bills of quantity for projects.
  • Monitor contractor progress and compliance with regulations.
  • Ensure completed projects meet specifications and building codes.
  • Produce reports on facility conditions.
  • Receive supervision from the Senior Facility Maintenance Supervisor.

Qualifications and Evaluations:

Requirements:

  • Minimum 4 years’ experience in major construction trade.
  • Thorough knowledge of building construction techniques and materials.
  • Familiarity with local building codes and ordinances.
  • Diploma in Building Construction.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to read, interpret, and develop building plans.
  • Proficiency in CAD.
  • Clear communication skills.
  • Safety-conscious and able to work independently.
  • Physical ability for inspections and driving.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
