DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Operate the vehicle responsibly at all times and in accordance with Kenyan traffic laws and NTSA regulations.
  • Ensure that the vehicle is taken for routine servicing once every month at the designated NYS Service Bay.
  • Monitor and report daily mileage, fuel consumption and unusual usage, warning lights, dashboard indicators and unusual noises, any mechanical problems or defects immediately.
  • Carry out daily vehicle checks, including engine oil, coolant and brake fluid levels, tyre pressure, tyre condition and wheel nuts, cleanliness of lights, mirrors and license plates.

QUALIFICATION AND REQUIREMENTS

Academic Qualifications

  • Minimum KCSE (Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education) qualification with at least a D+ (plus) or its equivalent from a recognized institutions;
  • Ability to read and write fluently in English and Kiswahili.
  • Additional training in customer service, hospitality, or communication will be an added advantage.

Professional Qualifications

  • BCE-Class Professional Driving Certification from the National Youth Service (NYS);
  • Valid PSV (Public Service Vehicle) License issued by the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA);
  • Have undertaken proficiency tests for drivers(Driving and mechanics)i.e attended and passed a driving test conducted by an approved competent authority/Or passed a suitable test conducted by an approved competent; authority /Or passed a suitability test organized by the chief mechanical and Transport Engineer in the ministry responsible for Government Transport;
  • Be between 23-35 years of Age;
  • Valid Certificate of Good Conduct from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), issued within the last 6 months;
  • Be physically and medically Fit.
  • Completion of defensive driving or first aid training from a recognized institution is an added advantage
  • Minimum 5 years driving experience with accident  free records

Professional Qualifications

  • Ability to perform basic vehicle maintenance checks (engine oil, radiator water, tyre pressure, etc.).
  • Strong knowledge of NTSA regulations, County Transport Laws, and national traffic rules.
  • Navigation skills, including the use of GPS and digital maps (Google Maps, Waze, in-app navigation).
  • Record-keeping skills to manage work tickets, and vehicle servicing logs.

  • Team Player – Cooperates with fleet supervisors, mechanics, and fellow drivers.
