Job Description:

The Post-Doctoral Research Scientist in Qualitative Impact Evaluation (IE) will support qualitative IE activities across various research thematic areas at APHRC, including human development, health and wellbeing, and population dynamics and urbanization.

Responsibilities:

Technical Leadership and Support:

  • Design and implement development-related qualitative IEs and research studies.
  • Support researchers in adopting qualitative IE designs.
  • Develop innovative approaches to IE, including training and publication in peer-reviewed journals.

Fundraising for IE Sustainability:

  • Contribute to resource mobilization for IE projects.
  • Support IE proposal writing and fundraising activities.

Management of IE Projects:

  • Establish, monitor, and update work plans and budgets.
  • Oversee mobilization of IE teams and data collection logistics.
  • Manage qualitative IE datasets and ensure high-quality deliverables.
  • Participate in dissemination of IE findings.

Key Competencies, Qualifications, and Experience:

  • Ph.D. in relevant field with specialization in Qualitative IE.
  • Advanced skills in qualitative IE designs, data collection, and analysis.
  • At least 3 years of project evaluation experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in qualitative impact analysis methods.
  • Strong scientific writing, presentation, and communication skills.
  • Fluency in English; knowledge of French is desirable.
  • Working knowledge of African regions.
