Job Description

Mercy Corps, dedicated to creating a better world, seeks a Program Officer for the Mobility and Movement-Cross Border Resilience in Moyale program (MM-CBRM) in Marsabit. The role involves overseeing livelihoods, Natural Resource Management (NRM), resilience, peace, and social reconciliation activities. The officer will coordinate with the Program Coordinator and consortium team, ensuring the implementation of strategies aligns with Mercy Corps’ guidelines and principles.

Essential Responsibilities

Program Management

  • Provide technical guidance on various activities including livelihoods, NRM, and conflict management.
  • Engage stakeholders and ensure interventions are evidence-based and gender-sensitive.
  • Develop technical curricula and facilitate community engagement.

Community and County Government Engagement

  • Conduct mobilization and sensitization meetings.
  • Collaborate with county government departments and support policy development.


  • Establish partnerships with local organizations and facilitate collaboration.
  • Link beneficiaries with relevant institutions and markets.

Program Monitoring

  • Monitor progress of activities and support data collection and analysis.
  • Assist in the development of monitoring tools and conduct field visits.


  • Coordinate with operational teams to ensure support for field activities.
  • Assist in procurement related to program activities.

Team Management

  • Participate in recruitment and training of program facilitators.
  • Provide feedback and support to team members.

Minimum Qualification & Transferable Skills

  • 5+ years’ experience in NGOs/CBOs in civic engagement, livelihoods, or education.
  • Degree in relevant field.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Fluency in English, Swahili, and local languages.
  • Attention to detail and ability to work independently.
