IT Support Specialist (Remote/On-Site)

The IT Support Specialist will be the first line of defense in assisting employees and clients with technical issues, ensuring that all IT systems run smoothly and efficiently. He/She will provide troubleshooting support for hardware, software, networks, and security-related concerns. This role is ideal for a proactive problem solver who enjoys helping others, thrives in fast-paced environments, and can communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical users.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support via phone, email, chat, or in-person.

  • Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and network-related issues.

  • Install, configure, and maintain computer systems, applications, and peripherals.

  • Monitor system performance and provide preventive maintenance.

  • Assist in setting up accounts, passwords, and permissions for new users.

  • Document technical issues and resolutions in the helpdesk system.

  • Escalate complex problems to higher-level support or vendors when necessary.

  • Support IT projects including system upgrades and migrations.

Must-Haves

  • Strong understanding of computer systems, mobile devices, and networks.

  • Familiarity with Windows, macOS, and Linux operating systems.

  • Excellent problem-solving and multitasking skills.

  • Strong communication abilities to explain technical solutions in simple terms.

  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple requests.

Valued Experience

  • Certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, or Microsoft Certified IT Professional.

  • Experience with Active Directory, Office 365, and remote desktop tools.

  • Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices.

  • Familiarity with ticketing systems such as Zendesk, Freshservice, or Jira Service Desk.

  • Previous experience in a customer-facing IT support role.
