Role Overview

The Digital Manager will develop and implement MSF EA’s online communications strategy, working closely with the Head of Communications and Operational Support. The role supports MSF EA’s home society communications objectives and the broader MSF movement’s social mission, with a strong focus on the Eastern Africa region.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement digital strategies in coordination with colleagues across the continent and MSF.
  • Oversee digital marketing strategies to support the office’s agenda and improve campaigns based on performance.
  • Advise and support other MSF EA departments in creating online strategies and content.

Technical and Operational Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement digital and social media plans, including content strategy, events, and campaigns.
  • Promote innovation in digital communication, following digital trends, and considering the East African context.
  • Monitor online conversations and trending topics to advise on issues of interest and effective social media messages.
  • Explore and implement search engine optimization strategies with the Digital Marketing Officer.
  • Ensure timely dissemination of content on MSF EA digital channels.
  • Oversee the production and dissemination of digital communications to external audiences.

Representation

  • Represent MSF EA in international platforms, with regional communications colleagues, and on external platforms as needed.

Monitoring and Analytics

  • Ensure proper monitoring on key platforms for reputation management and crisis support.
  • Track, analyze, and report on online metrics to improve performance, impact, and reach.
  • Maintain Google Analytics accounts for the website and other social media monitoring tools.

Other Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the development and delivery of the office’s communications and fundraising agenda.
  • Advise on the upgrade strategy for the website and other platforms, including payment platforms.
  • Provide support during crises by monitoring social media.
  • Participate in an on-call system to respond to media requests outside of office hours.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, New Media, Public Relations, or equivalent.
  • Experience: 5+ years in digital media communications, social media management, and online community engagement.
  • Skills: Knowledge of Drupal, HTML, web and social media metrics, and analytics tools (including Google Analytics). Experience in SEO, Facebook Business Manager, and Google AdWords/display.
  • Languages: Fluency in English is required; knowledge of Swahili and a third language is an advantage.
  • Other: Experience in humanitarian work, commitment to its principles, and excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

What We Offer:

  • Salary: EUR 27,105 annually at HQ Level 8.
  • Benefits: Includes school fee support for dependents, allowances (EUR 620-1,159/month), 25 days of annual leave, employer pension contribution, medical insurance (staff and family), and relocation support for non-Kenyan residents.
