Action for Paid Childcare Sector Transformation Project Description

The Action for Paid Childcare Sector Transformation (ACT) project is a collaborative initiative aiming to transform paid childcare into a viable career option, particularly for women, in Kenya and Malawi. This 4-year project aligns with Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) 5 and 8, as well as Canada’s Feminist International Assistance Policy (FIAP).

Nature and Scope

The Gender Equality, Social Inclusion (GESI), and Safeguarding Consultant will play a crucial role in integrating GESI findings into project strategies, providing technical support, and ensuring the inclusion of marginalized groups. This role will also involve leading Safeguarding efforts within the project.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide technical advice and support for implementing gender-transformative approaches.
  • Develop and revise GESI strategies and plans in collaboration with project partners.
  • Integrate GESI into project planning and management approaches.
  • Lead GESI training and capacity-building initiatives.
  • Facilitate evidence-based learning and decision-making.
  • Lead Safeguarding risk assessment and response efforts.
  • Develop and integrate a project-based Safeguarding Strategy.

Qualifications and Competencies

Education:

  • Master’s degree in International Development, Gender Studies, or related field.
  • Training in Gender Equality, Social Inclusion, and Safeguarding is an asset.

Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in regional development programming.
  • Theoretical and practical background in GESI.
  • Proven ability to work with stakeholders and meet deadlines.

Personal Attributes and Skills:

  • Self-motivated with excellent collaboration skills.
  • Strategic thinking and innovation-oriented.
  • Strong analytical and writing skills.

Language Proficiency

Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
